Therapy Beyond Four Walls
Sometimes the best place to begin healing isn't on a couch—it's on a trail.
Nature has a remarkable way of helping our nervous systems slow down, breathe a little deeper, and reconnect with the present moment. The gentle rhythm of walking, the warmth of the sun, the sound of birds, or even noticing the colours of the changing seasons can help quiet an overwhelmed mind and create space for reflection.
Healing isn't just about talking—it's about helping the nervous system feel safe enough to heal. While therapy provides a space where your story can be heard and witnessed with compassion, nature offers something beautifully complementary. It asks nothing of us. It simply invites us to pause, notice, and be present. In that space, healing often unfolds in ways we don't expect.
Research continues to show that spending time outdoors can reduce anxiety, ease symptoms of depression, lower stress, improve mood, and increase mindfulness. Even 30 minutes a day—whether it's a walk around the block, sitting beneath your favourite tree, or wandering through a local park—can make a meaningful difference. As we slow down and intentionally savor the sights, sounds, scents, and textures around us, we begin to reconnect with ourselves, with others, and with the world around us.
These moments of presence can also awaken something we don't experience often enough: awe. Awe is found in the rustling of leaves, a sunset that stops you in your tracks, birdsong overhead, or the quiet strength of an old tree. These simple experiences gently remind us that we are part of something larger than ourselves. They can soften fear, expand perspective, and help us move from merely surviving toward living with greater openness, connection, and hope.

Walk & Talk Therapy
That's why I offer Walk & Talk Therapy—one-hour therapy sessions held outdoors. Walking side by side often feels more natural than sitting face-to-face. The movement, fresh air, and calming rhythm of nature can make it easier to explore difficult experiences while staying grounded in the present.
Whether we're walking through a park, along a pathway, or simply taking in the changing seasons, we'll move at a pace that feels right for you. There is no pressure to have all the answers. Just an invitation to show up exactly as you are.
Sometimes the next step in healing is, quite literally, the next step.
I invite you to step outside with me.
The PaRx (Park Prescriptions) program
Nature is becoming an important part of healthcare, too. Through the PaRx (Park Prescriptions) program, healthcare professionals across Canada are encouraging people to spend time in nature as part of their overall wellness and treatment plan. Whether or not a formal prescription is written, I encourage my clients to consider how time outdoors can become a meaningful part of their own healing journey.
If you're curious about incorporating nature into your therapy goals, let's talk about how we can make it part of your personalized treatment plan.
